Nias has become popular in Indonesia following the tsunami on December 26, 2004 and massive earthquake on March 28, 2005. Nearly all components of national and international communities have given their heartfelt attention and aid to cope with the disaster. Since then on, Nias Island has been visited by hundred thousands of people from all over the world. It has been trillions of rupiah worth humanitarian funds to help assist the affected areas’ recovery including physical as well as non physical development.

Almost six years following the tsunami and earthquake in which people all over the world lend their helping hands morally and materially. After trillions of rupiah of fund disbursed, Nias has got many changes. There are also significant political changes by the expansion of local government into four regencies and one municipality. However, there are still many challenges and problems here and there to be responded and put up with by the stakeholders in Nias Island that are derived from the elite and local Nias people.

Problems and challenges in Nias is possibly transformed into opportunity when they run along with many parties participation. Nias should have been able to manage all the existing setbacks and potentials so as to revive and pose itself along with the other regions in Sumatera.
